ALERE Accounting is designed for small to mid-size companies. It has a broad range and depth of features that make it extremely appealing to a wide variety of businesses. Since day-to-day processes are important to running your company, the design of ALERE has focused on making them as easy as possible.

Following is a list of the accounting modules available for the ALERE system, and a brief summary of just a few of the most significant features of each.

Module Manager

The Manager Module provides support for housekeeping, password  protection, modifications, and common processes and information that is  shared among the modules.  The Executive Advisor provides a real time summary of a company’s  performance.  A sales graph for the Executive Advisor displays key sales information for  a range of dates in a variety of formats. A Data Dictionary lists and details all tables and  reports to assist with modifications to the  software.

Sales Module

The Sales Module is responsible for all sales functions, from entering an order, through invoicing to managing the cash receipts. Email orders and invoices.  Sales order configuration is integrated into the  order entry process. Use an Explorer-like interface, called Treevision  ®, to drill down to sales information and to the actual orders.  A History of Payments report evaluates the  payment history of customers and will show the  longest, shortest, and average times it takes for  them to pay invoices

Purchase Module

The Purchases Module is responsible for all purchasing functions, from  entering a purchase order, through receiving and releasing to accounts  payable, to approving and making payments. The key features are  Create or edit a quote, purchase order, return order, or a recurring order  from one screen. Email, view or print orders.  Payables can be created directly and “pull”  information from a single purchase order,  multiple purchase orders or recurring purchase  orders

Inventory Module

The Inventory Module is responsible for all activities related to managing  inventory. Multiple warehouses are supported to allow tracking inventory by on-hand value, warehouse location and bin, default supplier and supplier location, selling unit of measure and conversion factor, sales order and work allocation quantities, purchase order and work order “on order” quantities, and various other criteria.

General Ledger Module

The General Ledger Module is responsible for all activities related to managing the general ledger. All GL transactions are posted in real time to the general ledger. Periods are automatically closed, which eliminates costly batch closings that interrupt business activities.  Simple and advanced budgeting, using Excel spreadsheets, is supported, allowing you to compare actual versus budget for any range of dates. Dated Income Statements can be run for any  range of dates, which permits daily, weekly, quarterly, semiannual and multi-year statements to be produced.

Configuration Module

The Configuration Module is responsible for defining the product  features and options that can be selected when entering orders for using the SOC (Sales Order Configurator) screen. As the data is entered, the features and  options for an item are shown as it is being entered on the order. The SOC will calculate the price and cost based on the features and  options chosen each time the Save button is selected. Product configurations can be predefined and assigned finished good item numbers.  Bills of material that can be configured are displayed when ALERE Accounting is linked with ALERE Manufacturing.

Multi-Currency Module

The Multi-Currency Module allows companies that do business outside their country’s borders to take and place orders in currencies other than their own. General ledger transactions and financial reports are done in your base currency.  Exchange rates use a straightforward method that allows them to be quickly updated.  Active currency rates may be changed until  such time as they are used. They then  become locked until a new set of rates is  added. An Exchange Variance report provides a summary of currency variations that occur. The numeric calculator will allow currency  conversion calculations to be made on the  fly.
